More About St George’s Hall
St George’s Hall can be found opposite Lime Street Station in the centre of Liverpool.
It was built in 1841 and has a grade I listed building status, and also is part of Liverpool’s World Heritage Site.
Elmes, a 25 year old architect from London designed St George’s Hall, and it was his design that won the competition!
He noticed that Liverpool did not have an ideal venue for musical events, so he decided to design a building that put law courts and concert halls all under one roof.
Nikolaus Pevsner described St George’s Hall as one of the best neo-Grecian buildings in the world.
