About The Iron Men

The Iron Men sculptures are located on Crosby Beach in Merseyside.
The sculptures are by Sir Antony Gormley, replicating his own body.
100 Iron Men appeared at exhibitions around Europe and after were permanently placed in Crosby Beach.
Each Iron Man weighs around 650kg and is 189cm tall.
Their installation on Crosby Beach has not been without some opposition, with some locals having concerns over safety and environmental damage.
However, after a meeting by Sefton Council in 2007, it was decided that the Iron Men will remain there permanently.
Crosby Beach wouldn’t be the same without them!
